Lightweight SHAW, BILLY EARLY ENGLISH SPORTSMAN CARTE DE VISITE

Billy Shaw was an English sportsman who ran a famous resort at on Windmill Street, Haymarket in London. This resort served as the location for the boxing and lessons conducted by Arthur Chambers and Bat Mullins in 1867 and 1868 and was used at other times as well. Offered here is a rare, original first generation carte de visite photo of Billy Shaw.
This is an original, first generation, carte de visite photo of Billy Shaw in period dress. Circa 1870's. Bold, clear image. Billy Shaw's name is on both front and back. Not creased or torn. Has edge and corner wear. Minor soiling. Photographer noted on back, Taylor (photographers to the Queen). 2 1/2" x 4." Extremely rare.
